Hyundai Motor Co. has taken a bold step into the future of high-performance electric vehicles with the unveiling of its RN24 prototype during the N Day 2024 event. Designed for driving enthusiasts, the RN24 blends cutting-edge technology with motorsport-inspired innovation, offering a glimpse into Hyundai's ambitious vision for the EV market. The RN24 stands out as a compact and lightweight electric vehicle, weighing just 1,880 kilograms—over 300 kilograms lighter than the Ioniq 5 N, its predecessor in Hyundai's high-performance lineup. This weight reduction, combined with a powerful 650-horsepower electric powertrain, positions the RN24 as a formidable contender in the world of high-performance EVs.

Built on Hyundai’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the RN24 demonstrates the automaker’s commitment to performance without compromise. The dual-motor system, similar to that of the Ioniq 5 N, delivers an impressive 650 PS and 546 lb-ft of torque, propelling the vehicle from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.4 seconds. With an estimated top speed of 149 mph, the RN24 is engineered to provide an exhilarating driving experience. What sets the RN24 apart is its motorsport pedigree. Drawing inspiration from Hyundai's success in the World Rally Championship (WRC), the vehicle features a chassis designed for exceptional handling and stability. A highlight of its engineering is the innovative Rally Mode, which electronically simulates a four-wheel-drive system, optimizing torque distribution to enhance cornering performance.

Hyundai’s engineers have taken a meticulous approach to the design of the RN24, prioritizing both performance and agility. The vehicle's lightweight construction is achieved through the use of an exoskeleton-style roll cage and minimal bodywork, which contribute to its sharp, responsive handling. This focus on reducing weight without sacrificing structural integrity allows the RN24 to deliver precision and control on par with top-tier sports cars. The RN24 is also equipped with an 84 kWh battery pack, providing ample power for extended high-performance driving. This combination of advanced battery technology and motorsport-inspired design reinforces Hyundai’s position as a leader in electric vehicle innovation.
